Cover Art #4: Mark Mulcahy – Fathering Cover Art #4: Mark Mulcahy – Fathering

Sometimes I buy records just because of the beauty of their cover artwork. That´s also how I have discovered Mark Mulcahy and his music some years ago. I bought this record in the small record shop at our university. It´s still one of my favorite records and the cover is the perfect illustration of the beautiful heartfelt sound on this record.
All artwork for this record (except for one image) was shot by an artist called Michael Ackermann, an American Photographer …

Cover Art #3: The Poppy Family – Which Way You Goin Billy? Cover Art #3: The Poppy Family – Which Way You Goin Billy?

The Story Of The Poppy Family started off in the late 60 s as a sweet Love Story. Susan Pesklevits was the host of a Canadian teen show called Music Hop where she met Terry Jacks, who was a musical guest. They became a couple, played cover songs in several small clubs in Canada and married only 2 years later. The Cover of their first studio relase is featuring the couple (on the left) and their band members. It represents their sweet psychedelic bubblepop perfectly.

Bob Seger – Night Moves Bob Seger – Night Moves

This classic from 1976 was originally rejected by Capitol Records because they thought it was not as exciting as Segers’ previous records. The leather jacket look on the cover is quite similar to Bruce Springsteen’s style in those days. It was neither a commercial trick nor a real reference to The Boss. Nevertheless Bob Seger stated more then once that he was influenced by Springsteen’s music (back then especially ‘Born To Run’ and ‘Jungleland’).
